No, I’m not talking about blogging again (although it would be appropriate after my 3+ week posting hiatus).
I’m talking about being a partner in Zenwerks, a Seattle-based digital branding and web development/design company.
For those who know me best personally and professionally, the move back to the agency side seems so obvious it’s almost a non-event in many ways. Co-founding and building Kaufer Miller Communications in the 1990s has easily been the highlight in my career to date and even though I left the KMC Group in 1998, I think many people expected me to return to the agency-building world sooner than 2010.
For a variety of reasons, the time and opportunity were never quite right for me to take this plunge whole heartily until now. And, as everyone knows, timing is everything.
With Zenwerks, I have the unique opportunity of joining with Bob Butterworth, a colleague and friend who I respect and like tremendously. Bob and I first met while we both worked for a new local game company in 2006. Bob was hired as the virtual CTO while I managed public and media relations. We hit it off immediately and built a strong working relationship during this time. Bob also served as a technical advisor and personal supporter during the many iterations of GreenforGood.com. And during this time we also built a friendship as we shared stories about new and ongoing joys and challenges as fathers, husbands and entrepreneurs.
My work at TERIS provided me with a tremendous opportunity to learn and practice social media skills to launch and build a new brand. I also managed a truly integrated marketing program across multiple offices and markets. But I’ve always retained my entrepreneurial itch and have been waiting for the right time to again strike out on my own.
Fortunately I now don’t have to make this journey alone. Bob has already built Zenwerks into a very successful web development and design firm – with a roster of clients and projects that include some of the biggest brands in the country (Nike, Toyota and Microsoft to name a few). I’m bringing my skills and experience in marketing, social media and public relations to the firm and we’re convinced that combined, we can build a new digital branding agency for the new generation of companies that now have a myriad of challenges they didn’t face even a few years ago.
So I now would like to take this opportunity for you to….
The perfect formula for branding success
technology + creativity with a splash of inspiration
combining the right elements at the right time to create connections with the people who matter to you
Look for details about the new Zenwerks soon!
