Team Up for Non Profits: Great idea, concept and execution!

Posted by on March 10, 2011 in Community, Non-Profit, Seattle |

Last summer I was introduced to the Founder and President of Team Up for Non Profits Ryan Hodgson through my good friend Shelly Kurtz. Shelly had been helping the young organization secure sponsorships and she asked if I would be willing and interested in helping out with the PR and communications for the group. The three of us had lunch and I was impressed with Ryan’s passion, commitment and vision for Team Up – and I agreed to help.

In short, Team Up for Non Profits acts as a fundraising and event management organization for local non profits who are looking to raise funds (and how many non profits AREN’T looking for funding?). Through events called Gigs4Good, Team Up produces professional music events, featuring a wide range of music at various venues throughout Seattle. It’s only barely one year old, but it’s already achieved considerable success in a short time. It’s hosted more than half a dozen events and raised tens of thousands of dollars for local charities such as BikeWorks and Climate Solutions. And tonight it’s hosting another event at the famed Crododile in Seattle (the event will be streamed via the web for those who can’t make it).

In the meantime, I thought I’d share a couple of great pieces that ran on local Seattle TV stations recently that feature Ryan and Team Up. It’s great to see such strong media support for a worthy cause. I hope you take a moment to check out Team Up for Non Profits!
