Are You Missing the Social Media Boat?

Thanks to its cost-effectiveness, it is second nature for many startups to utilize social media channels (including blogging, Facebook, and Twitter, among others) to build publicity and nurture customer relationships.

And while many major brands have also jumped on the social media bandwagon, a large number of businesses – both small and large – have still yet to do so. Further, though it seems that consumer brands might appear to benefit more than B2B companies, by avoiding this medium, companies of all sizes (and industries) are really missing an incredible opportunity to publicize their business.

Surprisingly, almost half of the Fortune 500 companies out there still aren’t using any form of social media – (including Facebook or Twitter), and only 23% of them use blogs, according to this infographic by Go-Gulf.com, which is based on research by the University of Massachusetts.

If you happen to be amongst that group of procrastinators, don’t fret… you can see you’re in good company. But there is no time like the present to start your own social media plan, whether it’s launching a simple blog or choosing a social media platform to ‘live’ on.
